Bottled Water Can Help You Have a Healthy Lifestyle

My last article was about the importance of water; well what's really important too is the type of water, because water can be doing you more harm than good.

The type of water is important too:

Don't drink bottled water, as it too can be full of contaminants. In an independent test performed by the Environmental Working Group they discovered that 38 low-level contaminants were in bottled water and each brand containing 10. These include disinfection byproducts (DBPs), caffeine, Tylenol, nitrate (fertilizer), industrial chemicals, arsenic, fluoride and bacteria. Infact one of my clients was having issues with her water and we discovered arsenic in it that was at a level she was sensitive to. Another concern is the exposure to BPA, which mimic hormones in your body.

The bottle itself is another concern, it is okay to drink from a glass bottle but plastic bottles are full of chemicals that harm your health. BPA and phthalates mimic hormones in your body, especially whilst pregnant, this can lead to chromosomal errors in the developing fetus, causing spontaneous miscarriages and genetic damage. Exposure of only 0.23 parts per billion of BPA can disrupt the effect of estrogen in your baby's developing brain.

Be concerned about drinking:

•Unfiltered tap water
•Fluoridated water
•Distilled water

The problem with distilled water is it's an active absorber meaning that when it is in contact with air it becomes acid because it absorbs the carbon dioxide from the air. Distilled water is free from any minerals or other particles therefore it has the ability to absorb toxic substances from your body and eliminate them. You may be thinking this is a good thing however even though it may be good for short-term detoxification it can actually cause you to have mineral deficiencies and an acidic state. This can also cause you to rapidly lose electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride) and trace minerals, which in turn causes cardiac irregularities, high blood pressure, and cognitive/emotional disturbances. Anyway distilling actually worsens the toxic substances in your water because they vapourise at a lower temperature than water, such as volatile organic compounds (VOC's and trihalomethanes (THM's) will be boiled and condensed.

The best choices for water are:

•Collecting from a gravity-fed mountain spring
•Filter your tap with a high quality water filter that filters out all the toxins including metals, hormones, fluoride and chlorine.
•The best is to get a wholehouse water filter so that you are bathing in clean water as the skin absorbs the water too.
•Reverse osmosis is excellent for filtration that goes under your kitchen sink, however you must replenish it with a good electrolyte.

Use a stainless steel water bottle to hold your water, you can get that here

Symptoms of Nail Fungus Or Onychomycosis

Commonly known as nail fungus, onychomycosis is an infection that is common on both toenails and fingernails. Fungal infections on these areas are usually caused by dermatophytes, which are harmful since they grow and nourish on the keratin that builds up the nail surface.

Too often, the little toe and the big toe are affected by fungus. There are different types of fungal infections on the nails that may manifest in various ways but may have similar symptoms.

The first symptom that you will notice when you have onychomycosis is a small yellow or white spot on your nail. Oftentimes, this disregarded as fungus on the nail as most people think of it as some kind of normal discoloration and do not even pause to check it. As your nail grows, this spot also grows on your nail.

The best way to tell that you have onychomycosis is to check if there is something yellowish, whitish or brownish that is growing under your nail. This growing substance is not hard to be noticed as it has a foul smell. So, if you something unpleasant after taking out your shoes, it would be a good idea to check your nails especially when you see some discoloration.

Some symptoms of onychomycosis are quite apparent. The nail will get brown or yellow in color. Affected nails often become overgrown and so thick that you may find it painful to wear your shoes. The nail may even crumble or fall off eventually if not treated or noticed at once. Black or thick nails may not be your usual fungus symptoms but could sometimes indicate a paronychia or onychomycosis.

Although not really symptomatic onychomycosis, ingrown toenails should be treated immediately as there are so many inexpensive ingrown toenail remedies. An infected ingrown nail can be so severe and may even require surgery if not given proper care and attention.

You can always consult a doctor on how you can prevent or get rid of onychomycosis as well as ingrown toenail. You may also try natural methods or home nail fungal infection remedies.

Most of the substances or components needed in treating nail fungus naturally can be found at home and you would be surprised that you are using these agents in cooking and disinfecting your house. As possible, kill fungus early as if you let them grow on your nails, it could be more problematic for you to address and treat them.

Funginix also called Fungisil is a topical ointment that really works well to treat nail fungus.

Ways to Give a Relaxing Massage at Home

A lot has been said about massages. But if there is one thing that you should not forget, it should be about how it can relax you after a tiring day at work. Fortunately, you can learn massage techniques and use them at home.

First of all, you have to make sure that environment that you are in is comforting. The temperature of the room should be warm enough. This means that you can strip down your clothes and still feel comfortable. Then, consider having dimmed or soft lighting in the place. This toned down illumination can allow for a person to feel peaceful. All the stresses can be easily reduced.

You should also ensure that there are no things that can be in your way, especially since the area is already dark. Aside from purposes of safety, you need the area to be clear so that your path to your massage area is not obstructed and would seem like a challenge.

To complete the atmosphere, it will be helpful if you can introduce some soothing music. Sounds of nature or easy-listening musical tracks may do the trick. The music, coupled with the lighting, can effectively help you get in a relaxed mood even before you have started the massage.

If you are the one who is going to give the massage, make sure that you relax your hands. They should not be tense and they should be able to provide a soft touch. When you are massaging big muscle groups like the back and you need a lot of strength, you can use your body and not your hands to deliver the amount of strength that is needed.

You may use oils or lotions so that your hands can glide while you massage the body part. This will make it easier for you as the needed strength to complete the task can be lesser. The oils may even make it more relaxing. There are those that come with scents. Aromatherapy has been known to have a very effective relaxing effect on a lot of people when they are used. Furthermore, there can be some lotions that will help keep the body warm even after being exposed to open air for some time.

The massage techniques that you are going to use will be totally up to you. But, what you can do may include a combination of several of the most common and simplest massages. You have to learn effleurage or basic stroking. This is the movement or the glide of the palms of your hand against a part of the body. This may be most commonly used to spread lotions or oils that are used.

Another technique will be kneading. This is done by rolling your fingers over the muscles. You can provide deep strokes or lighter ones. Wringing is another helpful technique. For this one, your fingers and palm will "lift" the skin and gently wring it. Feathering is another method that incorporates light touches of the fingers to relax the muscles.
